Decription

SELWO is a nature park unique in Europe where animals of the five continents coexist in semi wild conditions. The park is divided into several zones, each of which features a variety of different animals. The first remarkable area which you will encounter is the lagoon which is populated by exotic birds, including some colourful flamingos. Nearby are habitats suitable for birds and monkeys. One of the park's most striking man-made features is the bird canyon, a massive enclosed area of hills and plants, within which more than 40 different species of birds live freely. A great part of the circuit is made in all-terrain trucks, although there is lots to see on foot, so I recommend you to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Also there is limited shade so summer visitors should remember to bring along a hat and sun cream.

Special
The Park has restaurants, shops, parking and much more services and facilities. The entrance fee is currently 6€ for adults with a discount for groups and children.

  Selwo Marina

Park operating schedule

Opening times:
1st January-14th June from 10.00h to 18.00h
15th June-15th September from 10.00h to 20.00h
1st October-31st December from 10.00h to 20.00h
Closed on Mondays from November to January

Decription

One of Spain's newest themed attractions is devoted to the exotic creatures of South America. Selwo Marina in Benalmádena, Malaga, Spain, is billed as new concept of marine park, bringing together the sea life and birds of South America and complementing the theme of the successful Selwo Adventure wildlife park in Estepona, Spain. Visitors to Selwo Marina participate in an expedition in which they discover the amazing ecosystems of the South American continent.

The sound system design and installation was carried out by Madrid-based Himesa Professional, using a variety of D.A.S. products. The system designed by the company provides ambient sound and paging utilizing 60 Factor-5T camouflaged within the decorative elements of the park.

The park is accessed through the Plaza of the Americas where shops and food services are available. Through the plaza, visitors enter the Caribbean zone known as the Antilles, home to the Dolphinarium, an installation designed to exhibit, maintain, and breed species of dolphins and sea lions. Sound reinforcement is handled by two self-powered DS-12A systems, eight DS-12, and eight DS-8 conventional systems.

Next up is the Papagayo Club, where visitors can watch a variety of birds in flight and bird exhibitions.

Special

One of the most unique parts of Selwo Marina is Ice Island, home of the penguins. A cooling system located in the glass-enclosed area provides the animals with the extreme living conditions found in Antarctica. Himesa installed four Factor 5T two-way systems to provide background effects in this area. Very cool, indeed.

  Las Navillas
Decription:

COAN Las Navillas is situated Sevilla, Granada near Málaga, km 152 de la N-331. goto gasolinstation "La Dehesa" turn right. Opened in 2002 and set in one of the most beautiful nature areas of southern Spain. Supervised adventure kindergarten for five-year- olds Las Navillas: A paradise filled with adventure. A park where the old and the young can enjoy an entire range of activities in the heart of the countryside. Tucked away in one of the most beautiful corners in the interior of Malaga province, the Alto de las Pedrizas, is a recreational centre that opened just more than a year age as the first of its kind in Spain. This is the C.O.A.N Las Navillas (Fun and Adventure Nature Centre), and it is a pioneer in the area of adventure sports, not just because of its design, but also because of the various activities that take place there. The centre is big, covering an area of 600 hectares, and has been designed to take full advantage of its geographical location. The activities range from the traditional horse riding, archery and animal sighting to more modern sports like riding four-wheeled motorbikes and paintball warfare. The centre is in the heart of the El Torcal mountain range, a limestone landscape with an abundance of outcrops, peaks and hollows that makes it very suitable for adventure activities. The area is very beautiful too, with plenty of lakes in wooded terrain that is rich in pines, oaks and numerous low-mountain species. Organised programmes The activities organised in the C.O.A.N. Las Navillas are aimed mainly at group's of families and friends, the basic concept being to learn to live together for a few days in the heart of the countryside and enjoy what nature provides. School kids come here too, and prior to each child's arrival, their academic and sporting file is checked to ensure that they are placed in the most suitable group. Such activities and attention to detail may indeed by found in other such recreational and sporting centres too, but if there is one aspect of the C.O.A.N. Las Navillas that sets it apart from the rest, it is their activities organised specifically for large companies and corporations. The concept here is outdoor training, an activity quite common in the United States but relatively new to Spain, in which company chiefs and their staff meet on common ground to have fun, get to know each other in a different environment and test skills that may not be apparent in an office environment. The centre already works with about a thousand companies. The cost of setting up the centre came to about 600,000 euros. It is a comfortable place to stay, despite its basic aim, with a bar and restaurant on site, and arrangements have been made with local hotels for overnight accommodation for those who do not wish to sleep in the centre itself. The centre's typical Andalusian farmhouse has accommodation for eight people on two floors, and there are wooden cabins on the site with capacity for four to six people each. There is also a type of adventure crèche for children, called the Guardería de Aventureros. The activities are designed for kids of over five, and the programmes, lasting either a day or a half day, involve activities like archery, animal sighting, pony riding, mountain biking and beginner's climbing.
